Nelson

I’d like to say hello to Nelson Galaxy. It’s been some time. Can’t wait to hear the music.

I recognise ‘In the sea’, obviously, very strange hearing it again.

Enormous - bloody well back!

Enormous are Steve O'Toole, Graham Boffey, Davy Lawrence and David Graham

Well they’ve been back for ages I just didn’t know. A strange place the past. Good to see the future could be stranger, could be enormous. I’m from Mansfield Town, as are these boys, but I’ve not seen or heard from them in a long long time.

Enormous the band (left to right): Steve O’Toole (guitar), Graham Boffey (drums), Davy Lawrence (guitar/vocals) and David Graham (bass).

They played up and down the country in the usual toilets and dives before releasing their debut single My Type on Beatific Records, a small independent label based in Mansfield.

Albums available: Almost Everything / Situation Comedy / Electric Baby Grand

‘Like being locked in a lingerie store with Anna Friel and Catherine Deneuve’ - Melody Maker

Like I say, the past is a strange place. It can rear its ugly paisley head when you least expect and make you feel good, make you smile, make you glad you were there.

So, Enormous are back, they’re full of songs, they’re full of spittle, and they’re full of themselves. Go listen to the music.

Grinderman cometh

The members of Grinderman looking all moody and ready for a fight.

News of Nick Caves new band greeted me this morning and joy did unfold. The collaboration is with former members of the Triffids, Cramps and the Dirty Three, forming the rock supergroup, Grinderman. From Soundgenerator:

The project - featuring Cave alongside ex-Triffids member Martyn Casey, ex-Cramps drummer Jim Sclavunos and Dirty Three founder member Warren Ellis - will see a new album emerge for 2007, as well as tour dates in the spring.

Describing their sound as ‘different to everyone, including themselves’, Ellis tells Uncut of how the band dynamic developed. “Having Nick on the guitar changed the whole dynamic”, he reveals, describing the band’s ‘open’ musical direction.

Check out the myspace Grinderman preview including a taster of things to come with “No Pussy Blues”. The debut album is set to be released on the 5th March 2007.

The line-up goes something like this:

Nick Cave - Vocals, Electric Guitar, Electric Organ, Piano
Warren Ellis - Electric Bouzouki, Fendocastor, Viola, Violin, Acoustic Guitar, Hohner Guitaret, Backing Vocals
Martyn P Casey - Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Backing Vocals
Jim Sclavunos - Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals

Lord save us.

Looking forward - Benicàssim
