The Eath will endure the human race as Snowflake (or rather his source) states, it's endured a lot worse. What I think the point of 1% for the planet is help save or sustain the quality of life for the human being and our children by taking steps. Because waiting for our self-serving Governments to respond is frustrating.

Minor injury to the planet, over millenia the planet can deal with. The moutains will endure. The people affected long term by loss of habitat, prolonged periods of draught and wild fires? Rising sea levels, an ice free Arctic Ocean, displaced communities? The millions of species worldwide that could be driven to extinction and the joy and diversity they bring, not to mention possible cures?

Nuff said, yawn.
